How do I choose the right wetsuit size?Updated 10 days ago

Choosing the right wetsuit size is essential for comfort, warmth, and performance in the water.

When selecting a wetsuit, it is best to use a combination of your height, weight, chest, and waist measurements rather than relying on a single measurement. Since wetsuits are designed to fit closely to the body, the correct size should feel snug on land while still allowing comfortable movement.

A properly fitting wetsuit helps retain warmth by trapping a thin layer of water between the neoprene and your skin, which your body then warms up. If the wetsuit is too loose, water will continuously flow through the suit, reducing its insulating properties. If it is too tight, it may restrict movement and become uncomfortable.

Signs of a Good Fit

  • The wetsuit feels like a "second skin"
  • There are no loose areas, gaps, or folds in the neoprene
  • You can move your arms and shoulders comfortably
  • The suit feels snug without restricting breathing or movement

Between Two Sizes?

If your measurements fall between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size for improved comfort and mobility.

Still Unsure?

If possible, we recommend visiting a retailer that stocks O'Neill wetsuits. Trying on different models and sizes in person is the best way to find the fit that feels most comfortable and performs best in the water.
